If you hadn't noticed, lots of websites all over the internet are PUSHING to get people to upgrade their old web browser to something a little more current.  IE6 launched in like 1986 and just hangs on "like an illness that won't go away" (quote from ie6update.com).  We are using many templates that by default don't work right in IE6, and have a warning telling users this fact when they first get to the site.  A news story just broke from Google's Enterprise Blog that they are going to stop IE6 support for even more of their apps in March 2010.  This is REALLY good news for us,

and for all of our customers because you can finally install some cool plugins that only work on newer browsers, and the risk that someone will have an older browser will drop every month.

Google has starting pulling IE6 support from some major properties, like youtube.com - and much more of this is coming.  There is a cool bit of code from the ie6update.com folks that gives a status bar saying you need a plugin to display the webpage they are on, that actually does a browser UPGRADE.  This is very nice, and we'll start flaunting this code and default installing it on all of our websites.

This might seem like a pain for some users, and some customers, but this type of movement is just a couple seconds to dive in to, and will make the internet a better/faster/safer/more fun place for everyone.
